Up-skill your workforce

School of Sign Language recently provided British Sign Language foundation courses at local super markets, who wanted to up-skill their workforce.

The BSL foundation courses are an excellent opportunity for employees to gain an insight into the Deaf awareness and acquire signing skills.

These signing skills can be used to provide a more inclusive service to deaf customers as well as providing a more positive environment for deaf employees to work in.

The BSL foundation courses are delivered on-site at a time convenient with the organisation, normally 2hrs x 8 weeks. All employees who completed the course received a certificate and were given a learning material DVD and access to our on-line learning site in order to continue their studies.

The 8 week foundation course covered a range of different topics and has been designed to be interactive, fun and educational. The students thoroughly enjoyed the introductory training course and all agreed that they would recommend our company to a friend!

We scored an average of 5 out of 5 marks for:

–         knowledge for the subject

–         how well did they relate to the group

–         making the subject interesting and enjoyable

–         the availability and quality of material handouts

–         managing the group
